<p>Step is seeking an Accounting leader to lead a world class accounting and finance operations team. You will be responsible for scaling the financial operations team to support the fast growing, dynamic Step business. You will also be responsible for improving our internal processes and controls, and partnering with our product, engineering, and data teams to develop the systems and infrastructure to scale efficiently. </p>
<h3>Responsibilities:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Design and build scalable accounting processes and controls to support the growth our current products and upcoming launches</li>
<li>Hire and manage the accounting and financial operations team</li>
<li>Lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate progress effectively with senior leadership</li>
<li>Partner with the rest of the Finance organization to support existing products and services and build new accounting processes for new products and services</li>
<li>Own the financial statements and end to end close process – this includes driving an efficient monthly close, building balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, financial statement preparation and reporting deliverables</li>
<li>Drive the annual audit process through coordination of key timelines, deliverables and final reporting packages</li>
<li>Define and implement key accounting systems required to drive automation and support the growth of the company </li>
<li>Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to support the automation of accounting processes and the development of internal tools, as needed</li>
<li>Own technical accounting analysis, including the preparation of accounting memos and assessment of complex accounting processes</li>
<li>Maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures</li>
</ul>
<h3>We’re looking for someone who has:</h3>
<ul>
<li>7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or private industry experience</li>
<li>CPA or equivalent</li>
<li>Proven experience in the monthly close process and exposure to accounting systems and understands how to drive automation and efficiency in these processes</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills and cares deeply about getting things right </li>
<li>A demonstrated track record of successfully managing cross-functional initiatives, partnering effectively with technical teams</li>
<li>Fluency with U.S. GAAP and the ability to prepare relevant technical accounting memos</li>
<li>Excellent project management, communication and organizational skills</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with internal controls</li>
<li>Ability to be flexible and comfortable with changing requirements</li>
</ul>
<h3>You might also have:</h3>
<ul>
<li>SQL experience</li>
<li>Knowledge of and/or experience in the banking and payments industry</li>
</ul>
<h3>Salary Range:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Base pay salary range is $175,000 – $225,000 USD and stock in early stage startup</li>
<li>Starting salary will be determined by a variety of factors including job-related skills, experience, qualification, work location, and market conditions</li>
