Join our community! We’re looking for an Assistant Controller who will own the accounting organization and is driven and ready to take that next big step to Corporate Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the leadership, development, and execution of all corporate accounting initiatives including accounting policies and practices, maintenance of fiscal records, the consolidation process, coordination and preparation of internal and external financial reports, SEC reporting, corporate accounting, preparation of management and audit committee reports as required, tax, and adherence to SOX requirements. 


The Assistant Controller will enhance financial oversight and play a significant role in helping Bungalow achieve its operating objectives by ensuring complete financial transparency, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and identifying ways to scale and operate more efficiently. They will be an integral partner to the Chief Financial Officer and the broader finance team.

What you'll do:

  • Provide support, advice, and counsel to the Chief Financial Officer, management team, as well as to other senior executives within the Company on all financial and accounting activities.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure full compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and taxation requirements. Ensure integrity in the financial records, safeguarding of assets, and a strong internal control environment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business and functional leaders across the Company to ensure awareness of key business activities and performance trends as well as emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Ensure digestible communication of complex financial concepts to various stakeholders to improve financial literacy and business decision-making processes across the Company. 
  • Serve as the primary thought leader and resource regarding all complex accounting questions/issues including new contract/deal structures, new market expansion, and adoption of new accounting standards. 
  • Assist with preparing materials for the Board. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors and external constituents.
  • Build a high-performing team with a focus on attracting, developing, and retaining top accounting talent that can scale with company growth.

Who you are:

  • You have best in class financial skills with at least 10 years of finance, accounting, or audit experience including serving as an assistant controller of a publicly-traded company
  • Deep technical accounting knowledge with strong analytical and accounting skills including a thorough understanding of complex revenue recognition standards
  • Experience operating in high-growth, entrepreneurial environments preferably related to marketplace or consumer tech.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale organizations, processes, controls, and financial systems. 
  • Exposure to various business models and complexity, ideally including experience entering new markets.
  • You have very high intellectual capacity and agility, as well as business and financial acumen.
  • You are a problem solver that is self-motivated and adept at structuring ways to break down complex business and accounting problems into digestible components and who can work well under pressure and tight deadlines. 
  • You are a data-driven decision-maker that is ruthlessly analytical.
  • You are a CPA, have 2+ years in property accounting, 10+ years of overall experience, and want to become a Corporate Controller
  • You have experience working in Real Estate, a REIT, and/or property management.
