Narvar is scaling! We are looking for a Commercial Corporate Counsel, to build and scale its legal operations. This position will report to the General Counsel and work closely in collaboration with business partners to provide practical and commercially-focused legal advice and support the company’s rapid growth. In addition to drafting and negotiating agreements, this person will work on legal projects and issues relating to strategic partnerships, data privacy and security, and business operations.
We are looking for a seasoned attorney with hands-on experience working in the SaaS space and with the ability to build processes and scale operations. The right candidate must be a self-starter, comfortable with and adept at juggling and prioritizing many agreements, and projects in a very fast paced and dynamic atmosphere. They should have excellent business judgment and communication skills, and will work closely with the General Counsel to play an integral role in driving the legal support function within Narvar on a day-to-day basis.
Day-to-day
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and confidentiality agreements with customers
- Advise business clients on commercial legal issues and risks, as well as resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters, all with a strong focus on business impact
- Work with business clients and business operations to identify, design, and implement processes and improvements for contract management
- Develop, manage and maintain template agreements, contract playbooks and sales processes
- Support the broader organization on any agreements under executive consideration, including agreements with channel partners, vendors for materials & services, and others as required
- Assisting with and/or leading other projects and matters in areas which may include privacy, information security, compliance, and other legal and regulatory issues
What we’re looking for
- Attorney with a JD and membership in good standing in the State Bar
- 6+ years of legal experience as a transactional attorney, with at least 3 years of that experience in-house supporting direct sales in technology industry
- Knowledge and understanding of SaaS contracts, preferably B2B
- Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner and provide succinct, practical, and results-oriented legal advice
- Ability to understand and apply risk tolerances appropriate to business needs
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple competing priorities
- Effective relationship building skills and ability to earn the trust of business partners
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and act decisively
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- E-commerce industry experience and privacy/data security experience a plus
