The Legal team at Relativity Space is responsible for identifying and managing risks across the organization to ensure Relativity is adequately protected through its rapid growth. Our legal team manages intellectual property, contracts, and ensuring compliance, among other responsibilities. Unique to Relativity’s fast-paced startup environment, this team is given the opportunity to work across many teams to support Relativity's ambitious goal of building the next great launch company. 
About the Role: 
Relativity is looking for an entrepreneurial counsel or compliance professional to take primary responsibility for the enhancement and implementation of Relativity Space’s Compliance Program & policies. The Counsel, Legal Compliance will play a critical role in developing and implementing company-wide compliance programs tailored to Relativity’s operations, conducting risk assessments of current activities, and ensuring adherence to legal standards and ethical practices. The position will work cross functionally business consistently with the Company’s values and preserve its reputation for business integrity and ethics.

<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Report to the Director, Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory and Transactions, and work cross functionally with the Company’s Trade Compliance, Security, Employee Relations, and Communications functions to provide oversight and development of programmatic compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Work closely with Relativity’s Senior Program Manager for Trade Compliance to manage risk and ensure compliance with U.S. export laws and regulations.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Support policy development and contract compliance for Relativity’s federal programs and develop and deliver training on various regulatory and compliance topics for Company employees, with special emphasis on global trade compliance, customer and vendor due diligence and government contracting obligations. </li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Closely partner with the People and Employee Relations functions on investigations and ethics matters, including supporting the development of an Ethics program that complements the overall programmatic development of compliance programs and procedures</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Plan and implement the policies and processes used to manage enterprise risk across the Company.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Represent the Legal Team within the company to expand the team’s ability to provide in-person guidance and support across a variety of compliance issues.</li>

About You:  
<ul>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">The successful candidate will have a J.D., a license to practice law, and at least 6+ years of relevant experience gained at a law firm or in-house legal office.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. export laws and regulations.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience working with FARS/DFARS and other government procurement regulations.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Proven ability to provide practical, flexible, risk-adjusted advice to business stakeholders and senior leadership.</li>

Nice to haves but not required:

<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience managing approval of export authorizations.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience as an Empowered Official as part of a company’s trade compliance program.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience working in or with the aerospace and/or the marine industry. </li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience developing Enterprise Risk Management Programs.</li>
<li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Experience building a Compliance program in a start-up or early-stage company environment.</li>
