The Opportunity at Komodo Health
The engineer for our Web Data Extraction and Curation function is focused on bringing technical and delivery expertise to extract, validate, transform, and curate data to enrich and augment core data assets of the Komodo Health Data Platform.
You will closely collaborate with Product Management and the Data team to engineer web scraping and data curation solutions ground up while using industry-standard tools and frameworks. You will be part of a small team of engineers, providing the necessary guidance and mentorship while ensuring timely delivery of value. You will foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and technical expertise while launching high-quality products aligned with our mission.
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…
- Designed and delivered solutions for extraction, enrichment, and curation of structured and unstructured web data to help improve the quality and coverage of Komodo Health’s data assets
- Developed, and employed web scraping tools and frameworks for collection, validation, analysis, and automation
- Developed self service tools and processes to support data curation and maintenance allowing business and data stakeholders to review, remediate and enrich production data
- Collaborated with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to implement data validation and/or data quality enhancements.
- Actively coached and inspired the team with timely and actionable feedback synthesized from peer feedback.
What you bring to Komodo:
- Expertise in Python, NodeJS, Linux, HTTP, HTML, and Javascript
- Expertise with techniques and tools for extracting and processing web data (e.g. Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, SQL, Scraping APIs, Proxies).
- Experience with version control, open-source practices, and code review
- Experience building applications to present content for internal review, approval, and curation
- Familiarity with data pipeline engineering, database design, web platform development, API design, or distributed systems.
- Ability to work as part of an agile collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading technical teams and initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to build a high-level roadmap and vision for a team delivering against a collaboratively defined roadmap.
