About the role:
In this position, you will help establish Chime’s Capital Markets organization with a near-term focus on partnering with our Lending business to inform and help lead its financing strategy. In addition, you will interface with potential lending partners and advise on the advantages and impact of various structures. As Chime continues to grow and evolve, you will also be a critical player in thinking through how to finance new products that may have unique liquidity needs.
More broadly, you will be responsible for identifying ways to enhance Chime’s capital structure, and monitoring and analyzing capital markets opportunities. You will lead our work in areas such as the negotiation and structuring of new facilities, the raising of equity, debt, and hybrid capital, general balance sheet management, and launching various other strategic initiatives. You will also cultivate and expand relationships with external partners, including banks, legal counsel, and other key constituents.
This role presents the opportunity to work with multiple teams across Chime including product, compliance, finance, partnerships and legal. This position will report to the VP of Investor Relations and Capital Markets at Chime.
For Colorado based roles:In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $208,500 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Help establish Chime’s Capital Markets function, drive our financing strategy, and own external bank partnerships and other lender relationships.
- Execute and lead capital market transactions including debt and equity financing, convertible notes, and lines of credit.
- Develop frameworks and processes for monitoring and analyzing various capital markets alternatives.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams across Chime to advise on financing strategies for new products and alternatives.
- Work with Chime’s Finance team to optimize our balance sheet and assess key items and risks.
- Engage regularly and build rapport with our bank partners.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Currently hold a leadership position in Capital Markets within the Fintech space.
- 10+ years experience in structured finance, capital markets, investment banking, corporate finance or a related financial services field.
- Significant experience and knowledge of consumer lending products, as well as broader financial products.
- Familiarity with structured finance, securitization, warehouse facilities, forward flow arrangements and loan sales.
- Prior banking relationship management experience.
- Ability and comfort working independently with cross-functional teams and external parties.
- Ability to get things done and be comfortable with ambiguity.
- Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Nice to have(s):
- Prior capital markets experience at a leading investment bank.
- Strong interest in fintech and knowledge of the industry.
