About the Role

As the Senior Tools Engineer, you will report to the Developer Productivity Manager and:

• Internal Tools Ownership
• We develop and support a broad array of tools to help our teammates in product development do their best work. This includes everything from from scratch building simple CLIs to developing complex systems.
• We support software deployment for Microservices, Lambdas, and Databases by providing the tools for our developers to interact with those systems in a compliant, secure manner.
• We support software development by providing tools for our developers to more easily work together through internal CLIs and other technologies.
• CI/CD and Infrastructure Automation
• Jenkins support, operation, maintenance, and upgrades.
• AWS environment support, operation, and retirement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Communicate technical ideas to software developers in written and verbal formats.
• Prioritize cross-functional requests against each other and planned Developer Productivity work.
• Communicate the team’s progress on key projects and metrics to engineering management
• Project Management
• Task prioritization.
• Task and project level estimation.
• Use of modern project management software such as JIRA to organize projects and track progress.
• Requirements gathering and conversion into project management software.
• Breaking larger tasks down into smaller tasks and identifying the order in which they should be completed.

Ideal background and expertise:

• 3-5 years of experience as a full-time professional software engineer.
• 1-2 years of experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment technologies.
• 1-2 years of experience with containerization/virtualization technologies.
• Ability to drive software projects of moderate complexity to a successful completion via Agile project management methodologies and tools.
