About the Team:
Within our Product Engineering organization, we are hiring Engineering Managers for our Acceleration, Study Tools, and Payment teams.
Acceleration: This team’s mission is to raise the quality of experience delivered to Quizlet learners. In service of this mission, the team helps internal developers continuously evolve the offerings by building new UI frameworks, mobile platforms, and tooling.
Payment: The payment team’s mission is to support and grow our subscription business by developing the right payment system, supporting different currencies, payment methods and subscription plans. Furthermore, the team takes responsibility in mitigating fraud and disputes for our business.
Study Tools: This team's mission is to build the critical infrastructure that supports storage, retrieval and searching of more than a billion flashcards. Flashcards are used by a majority of Quizelet’s 60 million active learners.
User Acquisition: The team's mission is to show the right content to the users and to bring the most organic traffic to Quizlet.
About the Role:
We're looking for several engineering leaders who can choose to join any of the above teams based on their strengths and interests. In this role, you will work with a highly motivated team of engineers working on new and innovative platform capabilities. You will be working cross-functionally with leaders from product, design, data and engineering. You’ll be a key member of the engineering leadership team, helping us scale technology, people, and processes as we grow.
In this role, you will:
- Be a Leader - Represent Quizlet values and empower your team to execute successfully
- Hire the Right Team - Recruit and hire engineers that will add new skills and experience
- Mentor & Coach - Define and execute development plans for every engineer to gain new experiences and take on challenges of increasing impact
- Execute Technically - Work alongside your team to execute projects using your experience to make the right technical decisions
- Maintain Operational Excellence - Coach the team to build systems that are scalable, highly available, and maintain a high bar for quality
What you bring to the table:
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
- 2+ years of experience leading high-performing engineering teams with direct reports
- Experience working with multiple teams focusing on different engineering areas (product, platform, data, etc.)
- High level understanding of industry-leading technology/solutions in UI frameworks, mobile development and API development
- Experience hiring engineers and supporting their career development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Bonus points if you have experience with:
- Backend technologies: PHP, Hacklang, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, MySQL, and Cloud Spanner
- Infrastructure technologies: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Modern JavaScript libraries and tooling: React, NextJS, Redux, Webpack, and Prettier
- Payment/Subscription for the role in the Payment team
Compensation, Benefits & Perks:
- Colorado candidates: Base pay for this role starts at $160,000. The actual pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience
