About the Team
Uber Advertising's vision is to offer the most marketplace-centric advertising to connect Uber's platform users (eaters, riders, and earners) with advertisers. Uber Advertising's platform brings together location based and shopping data with closed loop attribution across its mobility and delivery channels for performance and brand campaigns, enabling advertisers to engage with our consumers through the entire marketing funnel - from awareness through purchase to loyalty and advocacy for Uber users.
We have set up a new Uber Advertising division to spearhead the growth of its advertising business. By building a dedicated advertising organization and a suite of advertising products, Uber Advertising will enable merchants and brands to reach and convert its highly engaged user base across its Mobility and Delivery platforms in 32 markets.
About the Role
In this role as the General Manager, you will be the business owner of advertising business in the core Uber Mobility app. You'll be responsible for identifying, prioritising, building and enabling new ways for our advertisers to engage with our riders within the app. You will work closely with cross functional partners including sales, operations, finance, product, engineering and marketing. This role will report into the General Manager, Uber Advertising.
What You'll Do

  • Build the long-term vision for advertising in the Uber mobility app rooted in a deep understanding of our riders`, drivers', advertisers' and Uber's needs.
  • Work with all collaborators to develop and implement the in-app advertising strategy.
  • Work with the dedicated Uber Ad Sales and Account Management organization to sell these new ad opportunities.
  • Partner with product, engineering, design and data science teams to build the in-app advertising surfaces.
  • Define the right balance between short-term revenue maximizing initiatives and long-term growth bets.
  • Be the conduit between sales, operations, product, engineering, training, communications, legal, and privacy.
  • Be a strategic thought partner to team members in different parts of the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • Business administration degree or equivalent plus hands-on experience working with advertisers.
  • Minimum of 6 years in consulting, strategy & operations or business development in a high growth environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in consulting, strategy & operations, business development or brand advertising.
  • An ability to build deep relationships across a broad organization, cultivate a fun and collaborative work environment, and identify problems from different perspectives. Humility and empathy are essential to success in this role.
  • Be customer obsessed (users and merchants) and be passionate about building great experiences for Uber users all over the world.
  • Focus on building businesses, not features. Experience building and leading businesses, including ownership and optimization of business performance metrics.
  • Experience building new business units and taking businesses from 0 to 1 while working on projects with high degrees of ambiguity.
  • An ability to build deep relationships across a broad organization, cultivate a fun and collaborative work environment, and identify problems from different perspectives. Humility and empathy are essential to success in this role.
  • High standards and a bias toward action. You can find the context and information you need through relationships across the organization, you push for clarity and delivery, and you hold a high bar from your contributions and those of the people you work with.
