NerdWallet is looking for a Head of Internal Audit to take part in NerdWallet’s mission to provide clarity for all of life's financial decisions.
The Head of Internal Audit will build out NerdWallet's Internal Audit function by partnering with the business, technology, finance and legal teams to ensure the operations and finances of NerdWallet are conducted in a legal and ethical manner in alignment with industry practice and regulations.
The Head of Internal Audit will be a senior leader within the finance organization with exposure to the leadership team with industry veteran executives that has built an industry-leading company and brand known for innovation, quality and objectivity.
This person will report to the Audit Committee and administratively to the CFO.
Where you can make an impact:
- Implement the SOX plan and timeline, risk assessment and reporting cadence with the Audit Committee, CFO and Corporate Controller
- Define the priorities, develop and implement the strategy of the global internal controls function
- Develop annual audit plans and schedules using a risk-based approach, regulatory compliance, and controls over financial reporting
- Act as the point person for internal controls within the organization and provide reliable and insightful resource for implementing controls within a business process
- Ensure appropriateness of internal control documentation for financial processes, IT applications, and ITGC's, including planning documents, narratives, process maps, walkthroughs, and tests of controls
- Provide consultation to help process owners design processes with controls in mind
- Proactively advise management on key risk areas and drive remediation plans balancing risk mitigation with pragmatic processes
- Communicate identified findings and propose recommendations to management and the Audit Committee; track the remediation and closure of findings
- Train the management team about internal controls within company
Your experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- 10+ years of Sarbanes-Oxley audit experience
- CIA, CPA, CISA or other relevant professional certification
- A deep understanding of GAAP, COSO, Sarbanes Oxley Act, and PCAOB Rules and experienced in the use of auditing and assessment frameworks and the application of professional standards
- The ideal candidate must enjoy interacting with people, training, influencing regarding internal controls
- Demonstrates business acumen with the ability to provide solutions that drive positive result
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment working with others
