Helix + The World
Our end-to-end population genomics platform enables health systems, life sciences companies, and payers to advance genomic research and accelerate the integration of genomic data into routine clinical care. We support all aspects of population genomics from recruitment to translational research and help our partners use genomics to improve health outcomes, increase patient engagement, and lower costs. Leading health systems, including Renown Health, AdventHealth, and Mayo Clinic, use our population genomics platform to power some of the world’s largest and fastest-growing population genomics initiatives.
For the COVID-19 public health crisis, Helix has built one of the nation’s largest COVID diagnostic labs and has been on the leading edge of national viral surveillance efforts tracking B.1.1.7 and other viral strains.
The Security program is a critical keystone for Helix, as the team works tirelessly to advance the security and privacy interests of the individuals and organizations we serve. We are looking for the consummate Security leader who is passionate about defending the most sensitive of personal data, at a scale that will reshape healthcare and improve the lives of millions of people.
As Helix’s Head of Security, you will:
- Own Helix’s Security technology and process strategy.
- Lead regulatory and compliance initiatives.
- Safeguard sensitive personal health information and genomic data across our cloud-based platform, rigorously protecting data privacy for our patients.
- Collaborate with privacy, product, engineering, and the lab to advance security practices.
- Take a leadership role advising Helix’s partners to ensure secure partner integrations.
- Manage and grow the Security team.
- Be the leading voice for Security at Helix.
Required:
- Experience building large-scale security programs for systems built on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Deep experience in security governance, audits, compliance, and regulatory approaches
- Deep understanding of threat models for large, high-scale production platforms
- Proven track record hiring and building world-class security teams
- Experience with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, ISO, SOC, SOX, GDPR, FISMA
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes Agile and DevSecOps
Pluses:
- BS+ in Cybersecurity or Computer Science; coursework in genetics and bioinformatics
