Head of Sourcing and Procurement

Varo is seeking an exceptional person to manage a team of sourcing/procurement professionals who enable Varo to obtain competitive terms with suppliers, implement an industry-leading sourcing and procurement process and supplier management program. This role will also ensure that the sourcing and procurement team will continue to evolve not only to meet the needs of Varo but also to be seen as a leading department in this area.

What you'll do

• Create and manage procurement guidelines and standardized processes that will allow for streamlined and predictable contract workflows
• Build and Manage a team that will
• Conduct RFPs in accordance with Procurement Guidelines
• Draft, review, and negotiate all contracts for Varo
• Manage the renewals, terminations, and disputes with suppliers
• Build business cases in a consistent manner to help with supplier selection including insource/outsource decisions
• Complete financial review of vendors as required by Varo’s Third-Party Risk Management policy
•  Provide spend visibility and analytics to business units
• Partner with the business to determine an onshore/offshore/nearshore strategy as applicable
• Build the capabilities to provide business owners with easy access to key information on their suppliers
• Build a robust supplier governance function
• Partner with other business leaders whose processes are interrelated with the sourcing and procurement function, including without limitation, Finance, and Risk.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen the sourcing and procurement department through systems improvements and the preparation, implementation, and refinement of forms, processes, and procedures
• Obtain and maintain a strong knowledge of the company, its mission, strategy and values, service offerings and objectives of supported business units
• Manage the tools and supplier relationships for the Department

You bring the following required skills and experiences

• 15+ years’ extensive experience in managing sourcing and procurement at financial institutions
•  Hands-on experience in building a sourcing and procurement department
• Extensive experience with OCC’s requirements of Third-Party Risk Management
• Superior contract drafting, written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to interact with business leaders internally and externally
• Sharp mind as well as a high EQ with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships
•  Track record of working efficiently with a client-service focus in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Process-oriented with a desire for constant improvement and development of best practices
• Hard-working and a self-starter with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Strong integrity and commitment to ethics
• A collaborative working style that seeks balanced solutions that both protect the company and support the business goals
