The Position:
As the manager of the investment underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the underwriting process. You will manage the team of Investment Underwriters responsible for risk analysis of each potential asset on an individual basis. You will use data to enhance and streamline the risk approval process that includes assessment of the credit, valuation, condition, and title risks.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage and mentor a team of investment underwriters towards company-level goals and KPIs
- Implement and maintain underwriting policies, guidelines, and respective documentation
- Constantly review, iterate, and improve the risk approval process to streamline investment execution while maintaining appropriate risk mitigation
- Present Unison’s underwriting methods to multiple internal and external parties and address their inquiries on an ongoing basis
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments on day-to-day operations and new initiatives
- Develop training resources for the underwriting team
- Provide consistent origination systems feedback to the product team
Required qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or above, graduate degree preferred
- 2+ years of management experience
- 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience in mortgage or residential/commercial real estate underwriting a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in the FinTech industry is a plus
