Our accounting team is growing! We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee our global claims and insurance accounting deliverables. This role will contribute to Turo’s mission of putting the world’s 1.5+ billion cars to better use by partnering with our corporate FP&A, data analytics and operations teams to create accurate accrual models, ensure source data is reconciled, manage vendor and data pipeline integrations, and prepare timely reporting for the business and our auditors. This role will report directly into the Senior Manager of Accounting, and you will work with your reporting manager on building processes that allow our accounting operations to scale.

The ideal candidate is also comfortable proactively identifying and improving processes, collaborating with cross functional and global teams, and loves to solve problems in a dynamic high growth environment. Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the month end, quarter end, and year end close procedures for the accounting team’s global claims and insurance journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure that all underlying data used to support the claims model and insurance premiums are reconciled to source data; and work closely with the data analytics team to maintain overall integrity of the data pipelines used to build out the claims query which is used as the basis to inform assumptions in the accrual model.  
  • Partner with corporate FP&A and global operations teams to understand the end-to-end claims and insurance processes so that accurate assumptions are integrated to the month end accounting entries. 
  • Perform complex analysis of the claims model to assess trends, understand variances and identify areas for improvement while taking proactive measures to improve the end-to-end process. 
  • Be the main point of contact for all claims and insurance related audit PBC deliverables.
  • Lead, mentor and provide support to a team of 2 senior accountants. 

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of Big 4 public accounting firm experience.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another large-scale accounting system.
  • Mix of start-up and public company experience preferred; IPO experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Must have strong Microsoft excel skills, including index/match formulas, ability to manipulate large datasets and comfortable performing complex analysis in excel.
