Within the Ads delivery team, we try to connect the dots between the aspirations of pinners and the products offered by our partners. As a Manager, you will lead a talented team of machine learning engineers, collaborating closely with product managers, data scientists, designers, and engineers across the company to deliver impactful, pinner-facing ad products end-to-end.


What you’ll do:

  • Define and drive the strategy and roadmap for our vertical ads products, shaping the future of ad experiences on Pinterest.
  • Lead your team in building scalable product onboarding systems, applying state-of-art machine learning techniques to enhance ads product triggering, ranking, and selection, and driving value via the ads marketplace systems for bidding, budgeting, ad ranking, tuning, pricing, ad allocation and placement. 
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers and engineers across the company to deliver pinner facing ads products end-to-end.
  • Mentor and develop machine learning engineers at all levels, setting clear technical vision, guiding daily execution, and fostering a strong, healthy team culture.
  • Establish and uphold high standards for code quality, system design, and operational excellence within your team.

What we’re looking for:

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field.
  • 6+ years of industry experience.
  • 1+ years of management experience.
  • Hands-on experience with model offline development and online serving.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale online e-commerce systems is preferred.
  • Full ads funnel knowledge that’s from bidding and budgeting systems all the way to ads retrieval and allocation is preferred.
  • Strong software engineering, mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/month, and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle.
