Overview

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to help define and deliver the next generation of the Azure PaaS & Serverless. In this role, you will identify important customer problems, develop a deep understanding of developer and enterprise application scenarios, and translate those insights into product strategy, requirements, and measurable outcomes.

You will work at the intersection of customers, engineering, design, marketing, sales, support, and partner teams. You will use customer engagement, product telemetry, market research, and experimentation to identify opportunities and make informed prioritization decisions. You will help drive capabilities and end-to-end experiences that enable developers and organizations to build, deploy, integrate, and manage modern and AI-powered applications on Azure.

This role offers a strong combination of technical product development, customer engagement, business strategy, and cross-functional execution. The ideal candidate is curious about technology, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and able to turn complex customer and market signals into clear product plans. You should be an effective collaborator and communicator who can build alignment across teams and maintain momentum from product discovery through delivery, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

Our team is united by a common goal: making Azure the best application platform for every developer and organization. We learn directly from customers, experiment thoughtfully, and work across organizational boundaries to deliver experiences customers trust and love.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Product Manager on the Azure PaaS & Serverless team, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of agent builders, developers, platform engineering teams, IT professionals, and enterprise customers through direct engagement, research, telemetry, and partnership with field and support teams.
  • Identify unmet customer needs and emerging opportunities across modern application development, cloud-native computing, serverless technologies, integration, APIs, automation, and AI-enabled application patterns.
  • Translate customer, business, and market insights into clear product requirements, scenarios, priorities, and success measures.
  • Own and evolve the roadmap for a product area or end-to-end customer scenario, balancing customer value, engineering investment, platform strategy, and business impact.
  • Partner closely with engineering and design throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and solution definition through implementation, preview, launch, and iteration.
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces by framing decisions, evaluating tradeoffs, building alignment, and turning broad opportunities into executable plans.
  • Use qualitative feedback, product telemetry, experimentation, and business metrics to evaluate product performance and guide investment decisions.
  • Work across Azure and Microsoft to create cohesive experiences spanning cloud services, developer tools, GitHub, security, observability, data, and AI.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, partner, support, and developer-relations teams to define product positioning, competitive differentiation, go-to-market plans, and adoption strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends, competing platforms, open-source technologies, and changing developer practices to inform product strategy.
  • Help ensure that capabilities meet customer expectations for security, reliability, performance, scalability, usability, and cost efficiency.
  • Communicate product strategy, roadmap, progress, risks, and results clearly to technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Support product adoption through documentation, samples, demonstrations, presentations, customer engagements, and community events.
  • Model Microsoft’s culture and values by demonstrating customer obsession, growth mindset, inclusive collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to delivering measurable outcomes.
