ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PAX is looking for a Product Quality Manager to join our Manufacturing Engineering and Quality team. In this role, you will lead and work closely with the quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, PAX's contract manufacturers, and internal partners. You will own and address quality initiatives and issues by clearly communicating and addressing operational and technical issues. You will also be the leader in defining and implementing quality systems and processes to drive continuous product and process improvement. You will utilize your understanding of current systems and processes in order to produce and deliver appropriate inspection plans and develop inspection methodologies based on design, process, and material risks.
As the PAX Product Quality Manager, you will:
- Spearhead quality function in PAX, to take “Voice of Quality” to the next level.
- Oversee quality of PAX’s products, working with PAX’s internal and external customers while upholding PAX's values
- Evaluate business goals, identify improvement opportunities and apply scientific methods, statistics and problem solving techniques to improve and sustain product quality and process effectiveness
- Responsible for developing the quality processes and requirements to implement new quality systems such as ISO 9001.
- Lead Quality-driven projects to evaluate engineering solutions and make recommendations to senior management.
- Over-see design and development of quality systems at external vendors
- Drive the transfer of new products and/or the enhancement of existing products with effective assurance/control systems and improvement infrastructure.
- Work cross functionally with CM’s and suppliers to understand assemble and finished goods work with superior quality.
- Spearheads Six Sigma (Problem Solving and Process Improvement) and Lean initiatives
- to develop project opportunities
- Plan and execute projects and team activities to facilitate changes that have a statistical impact on business results, especially as it relates to meeting and exceeding customer expectations
- Establish programs, policies and procedures to evaluate precision, accuracy and capability of processes, products, production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities
- Provide technical expertise in product development projects, design reviews, verification, validation and manufacturability involving R&D, Product Group, Procurement, Manufacturing and other departments
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the PAX’s Quality Management System
- Schedule and perform audit activities, to include pre-audit planning, audit execution and evaluation and post-audit follow-up and recommendations
- Assist operating units with development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans to improve overall ISO compliance and quality results
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions on improvement tools & methodologies
- Ensure applicability of current quality policies, procedures and objectives by keeping informed of the latest updates/ modifications related to ISO quality systems
- Support the development and administration of supplier corrective action request(SCAR), and internal corrective action and preventive action (CAP)
- Ensure compliance with requirements around quality compliance, e.g. ISO 9000
- Follow up on any quality incidents such as production failures, calibration issues, loT rejects
- Monitor validation and performance of test equipment, including GR&R, calibration, yields
- Validate Incoming QC, In Process QC and Outgoing QC procedures and reporting, as prioritized by pareto of top issues
- Conduct Supplier quality audits and monitoring
- Build yield - daily tracking, and yield analysis including FA/CA
- Verify inspection process/equipment onsite
- Align on inspection spec among suppliers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8-10 years in a Quality Management and Engineering role, ideally in medical devices, Consumer Electronics, or semiconductors
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Experience dealing with overseas contract manufacturers and suppliers
- Working knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing operations
- Proficiency with Six Sigma/Lean/statistical tools is preferred as is Black Belt certification
- Strong familiarity with Design Transfer and Process Validation requirements for consumer electronics manufacturing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability and desire to build close cross-functional relationships with PAX team members
