Role Description | Modsy Designer
Commitment: Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: Telecommute/Remote
Contract Type: 1099 Contractor
Compensation: ~$17 per Hour
Modsy Designers are customer-obsessed and thrive on working one-on-one with their assigned customers to deliver a world-class design experience. Designers guide their customers towards realizing a design they love by creating beautiful photorealistic renders showcasing a curated selection of home furnishing products and finishes.
• You Have: Superb time and project management abilities - nothing makes you happier than a well-organized calendar!
• You Have: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information in a clear and compelling manner. You might have the Grammarly extension downloaded on your computer to secretly double-check your work!
• You Have: A technologically savvy mindset with the drive to take the initiative and quickly learn new applications. “Self-taught from YouTube” may be a sentence you’ve repeatedly used to describe yourself!
• You Have: A true passion for design and thinking outside the box - storage solutions, tricky layouts, and inspiration photos are no match for you! You’re receptive to feedback and can’t wait to help customers discover and bring their unique visions to life.
• You Have: A customer-centric mindset and are always willing to go the extra mile to deliver a delightful client experience. Your favorite part of HGTV design shows is the reveal because you love seeing the joy on people’s faces when they see their beautiful designs come to life!
Scheduling
Full-Time: 40 Hours per Week (max)
Part-Time: 20-30 Hours per Week
As independent contractors, Modsy Designers have flexible scheduling options; however, we request the following to ensure we maintain pipeline efficiency and meet customer expectations.
• For example, part-time contractors should plan to work a minimum of 4 hours per day, 5 days a week - not 7 hours per day, 3 days a week.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a design discipline or equivalent work experience is required.
- Previous experience working as an interior designer or in a related field such as interior decorating, architectural design, product design, home furnishing product sales, graphic design, event design, or customer service is highly beneficial.
- Aptitude for learning and using 3D modeling applications (3Ds Max, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Vectorworks, etc.) and graphics software (CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) is preferred but not required.
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- CA Residents: Modsy Designers must be able to provide proof upon request of an LLC. The state of California now requires that anyone filing a 1099 form either has an LLC associated with their operations as a contractor or that they fully incorporate their business.
- Able to furnish own electronic equipment meeting or exceeding the following minimum system requirements:
- Mac: Mid-2015 -or- PC: Windows 7
- Memory: 8GB
- Graphics: Intel HD 4000
- Internet Speed Latency: ≦15ms
- USB mouse, camera, and microphone

Please Note: We may decide to waive the style test for qualified candidates with portfolios depicting 3D interior renderings similar to Modsy’s customer designs.

If you pass the application process you will be invited to join our Foundations Program, Modsy’s 2-4 week (depending on availability) initial designer training process.
