UL Solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Executive, Renewable Energy Advisory to support the growth of our Renewable Energy Advisory business across North America. This role focuses on expanding UL’s Independent Engineering and advisory services for renewable energy projects, working closely with developers, utilities, lenders, investors, and operators.

As a key member of the sales team, you will lead client engagement, identify growth opportunities, and develop tailored, value‑driven solutions that address technical, commercial, and financial risks across the renewable energy lifecycle.

The role can be remote in the US or Canada. 

Responsibilities
  • Drive growth of UL’s Renewable Energy Advisory and Independent Engineering services across North America.
  • Proactively identify and develop new business through prospecting, industry events, discovery calls, and customer visits.
  • Build and expand relationships with renewable energy developers, utilities, owners/operators, lenders, and investors.
  • Identify and execute cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities within existing UL client accounts in collaboration with internal sales partners.
  • Lead proposal development, including scope definition, delivery approach, pricing, and budget alignment in line with client expectations.
  • Present UL’s technical capabilities, introduce subject‑matter experts, and deliver tailored advisory solutions to clients.
  • Develop and manage strategic account plans to support key account growth objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders, including decision‑makers and influencers.
  • Engage internal technical experts (e.g., engineers and advisors) to support complex sales opportunities as needed.
  • Partner closely with operations and marketing teams to progress opportunities through the sales funnel.
  • Represent UL Solutions at industry conferences, tradeshows, workshops, and business development meetings.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in technical or consultative sales within the renewable energy industry.

  • Strong understanding of the renewable energy project lifecycle, market drivers, and technical risks, including Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Demonstrated experience in value‑based and enterprise selling.
  • Solid technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate renewable energy risks and advisory solutions.
  • Exposure to or understanding of project finance, due diligence, and M&A transactions.
  • Strong business acumen and a thorough understanding of complex sales processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple technical sales opportunities simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working across sales, engineering, marketing, and operations.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and adaptable, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and a customer‑centric mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established network within renewable energy developers, sponsors, lenders, or investors in the U.S. market.
  • Experience with renewable energy due diligence, software platforms, or digital advisory solutions.
  • Background working with utility‑scale renewable energy or energy storage projects.

Total Rewards:  We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated annual compensation for this position $122,500 - $148,750, which includes a base salary of $70,000 - $85,000 and 100% on target performance. Members of the sales function are eligible to participate in the UL Solutions Sales Incentive Plan. The annual target incentive for this position is 75% of the base salary, paid quarterly, and is contingent upon performance. Compensation is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. 

This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
