As the Sales Rep, you will be responsible for increasing usage of our free FAFSA, local scholarships and financial aid award comparison tools and thereby increasing the number of students using our platform at each high school.  You will partner with high school counselors to help more of their students use our free tools to access financial aid. Going Merry is used in over 50% of high schools across the US. They predominantly use us for our national scholarships’ application platform. We want to show them and encourage them to use our free FAFSA, local scholarships and financial aid award comparison tools too. These tools enable us to increase the number of students using Going Merry at each school and, more importantly, help their students access thousands of dollars more in financial aid (~$15,000 per student on average).

Impact this role will have: 

  • Sales Execution 
    • Execute on territory and strategic business plans - applicant will be responsible for one state initially and eventually five or more.
    • Achieve monthly targets for new student sign-ups in applicable states (primarily by increasing usage of our free FAFSA, local scholarships and financial aid award comparison tools).
    • Effectively explain and demonstrate the Going Merry products and services.
    • Reach out to counselors via ‘cold’ emails and calls to target schools (already identified by Going Merry team).
    • Host demos with target schools to show them the Going Merry products.
    • Reach out to state level organizations about the Going Merry products.
    • Become a trusted advisor to high schools within targeted markets.
    • Identify conferences worth attending and other useful partners within applicable states.
    • Identify emerging opportunities and market shifts.
  • Client Management 
    • Ensure coordination and completion of all client requirements as it relates to operations.
    • Partner with the Going Merry Operations team to onboard new partners
    • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer and partner relationships with high school counselors by developing and understanding customer needs
    • Keep up-to-date knowledge of the industry and high school education trends  
    • Develop product overview decks for customer meetings
    • Ability to coordinate with the product team on any customer problems and with operations team on onboarding
    • Assist in all ad hoc tasks and projects

Ideal background and experiences:

  • 2 + years’ experience in a sales role with responsibility for meeting sales targets and managing and executing on a sales pipeline
  • Ability to show counselors how our products can help their students and comfortable with hosting demos and webinars
  • Experience reaching out to customer leads through cold emailing and calling  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High energy and positive attitude
  • Excellent consultative seller. You listen deeply to customers and excel by helping them solve their problems.
  • Comfortable with a flexible, iterative “test and learn” approach and a bias to action
  • Desire to join an early-stage company, take responsibility for usage of Going Merry in the states you’re responsible for and move fast
