The Opportunity at Komodo Health
The mission of Komodo’s Senior Accountant is to support the growth of the company and its functions through processing of commissions, intangible assets, accounting for our newly acquired entity, and other tasks as needed.
This role will report to the Director of Accounting. Our Dragons are diverse and multi-dimensional. We reflect that belief in our name and in the work we do every day.
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have:
- Provided financial analysis to determine appropriate accounting entries.
- Contributed to the execution of monthly and annual close processes including reconciliations, journal entries, escalations, resolution of issues, and meeting all set deadlines.
- Researched and resolved the proper accounting treatment for transactions relevant to the assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with GAAP and established company policy.
- Prepared and maintained schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, and external auditors.
- Assisted with monitoring, documenting, and implementing improvements to processes and internal controls.
- Assisted in providing requested deliverables to the internal and external auditors in conjunction with year-end audit processes.
- Prepared commission journal entries, including monthly accruals and capitalization under ASC 606 and ASC 340.
- Maintained accurate and complete intangible asset schedules, including capitalization and amortization.
- Assisted with the impairment review of goodwill and intangible assets
- Participated in close activities including review of manual entries and account reconciliations
- Led and assisted with other special projects, as needed
What you bring to Komodo:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
- 3+ years professional accounting experience with a top public accounting firm or mid-to-large size company
- Firm understanding of accounting principles and GAAP
- Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a very fast-paced, challenging environment, as well as working effectively as part of a team
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with a developed attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong excel skills and ability to efficiently work with large volumes of data
- Familiarity with ERP systems and/or NetSuite a plus
