Where we need help

We’ve sold a few million shoes, launched multiple groundbreaking silhouettes, and changed how people think about sustainability. Now it’s time to stretch out our legal kicks. We’re looking for a senior employment attorney to join the team and build out the global employment function within Legal. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a lean, unstructured environment and is passionate about supporting the growing needs of our expanding employee population across corporate headquarters, international offices, and brick and mortar retail.  Though you will focus on the company’s employment matters, you will also take on a broad range of other legal issues, including customer contracts, compliance, and certain corporate matters. 

What does the job entail?

  • Active and strategic management of a broad range of global employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, terminations, compensation, accommodations, leaves of absence, and employee classification
  • Creation, implementation, and delivery of policies, processes, and trainings related to global employment law matters
  • Close partnership with the People Team to evaluate legal risks and provide subject matter knowledge on labor and employment issues, including wage and hour, recruiting and hiring, training, employee management, and HR best practices
  • Evaluation of employment practices to assess and ensure local labor law compliance
  • End-to-end management (drafting, review, negotiation) of the company’s employment agreements, including offer letters, consulting agreements, and separation agreements

More practical skills needed:

  • 8+ years experience in employment law; previous in-house experience a plus
  • Experience managing international employment issues
  • Familiarity with employee privacy laws and frameworks (e.g., GPDR, CCPA)
  • Able to communicate positively, effectively, and efficiently with members of different teams
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high pressure, entrepreneurial environment
  • Adept at making complex cost/benefit assessments.
  • Ability to understand business needs and partner cross-functionally to create solution
