We’re looking for a passionate & supportive individual, to report to our VP of Engineering, to infuse our team with ownership, empathy, technical aptitude, intellectual horsepower, and leadership skills to evolve and mature the development of our Insights Platform. This role leads our Insights Engineering Group and partners with Product, Design, and other leadership on strategy for products used by our farmers.

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve provided an employee-focused response to COVID-19 where safety is key. As of July 2021, we reopened our Johnston, IA and Champaign, IL office hubs and now offer a hybrid approach of intentional in office time to work and collaborate, balanced with the flexibility to work from home. Our San Francisco office will reopen this fall. 

What you’ll get to do:

  • Lead a team of hard-working Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, and Architects
  • Partner cross-functionally to drive the strategy, roadmap, and execution for our Granular Insights Platform 
  • Grow, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers with a high degree of appreciation and emotional intelligence
  • Develop and champion partnerships with Product, QA, TPM, Design, Customer Support, & GTM to develop the best-in-class experience for our users
  • Improve all aspects of the product and deliver outstanding results for our customers
  • Contribute to building an impactful engineering culture that is technical and data-driven
  • Continuously refine and improve our software development and delivery process, leading to measurable improvement in velocity, predictability, responsiveness, and quality

Who you are:

  • 15 years of professional experience in software engineering 
  • 7+ years leading and managing engineering projects and teams
  • Strong EQ and ability to build successful partnerships
  • You have hired, built, coached, and led an extraordinary engineering organization
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change and resolve interpersonal issues with clarity and integrity
  • Strong architecture skills and technical knowledge. Has led and participated in architecture, design, and technology discussions. You have a point of view and can facilitate the process of resolving ambitious technical and architectural issues within and across groups.
  • Mentored and grown Managers, Sr. Managers, and built an effective succession pipeline
  • Partnered with Product and supporting teams to develop and implement consistent and reliable product delivery and support processes
  • Worked in engineering organizations with the right level of collaboration and processes that scale to support an engineering team size of 200.
  • Passionate about communicating and sharing a vision across a diverse, distributed organization.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with agriculture.
  • Familiarity with server and client-side international concerns and compliance.
  • Experience working with large-scale geospatial data processing systems.
  • Collaborated with a large parent company or 3rd party companies.
  • Written or participated in patent development.
