We’re expanding our satellite manufacturing capability and seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to lead factory optimization initiatives and drive scalable, efficient spacecraft production. This role blends advanced industrial engineering with program level project leadership. You will own major initiatives that impact throughput, predictability, and factory readiness as we grow build rates and introduce new product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead value stream mapping (VSM) exercises to define current and future state flows, identify waste, and extract takt‑limiting constraints.

  • Build and maintain factory simulations (discrete-event, throughput modeling, WIP flow simulation) to validate production architectures and rate‑readiness strategies.

  • Use simulation tools to evaluate staffing levels, workstation loading, WIP accumulation, bottlenecks, and expansion scenarios.

  • Lead factory optimization projects from concept through implementation, including scope, schedule, resource planning, and risk management.

  • Develop long-term capacity models, rate-readiness plans, and production system architectures.

  • Design and optimize workstation layouts, tooling strategies, and material flow systems for satellite AIT.

  • Perform advanced analyses: time studies, discrete-event simulation, constraint modeling, and process mapping.

  • Establish and maintain factory performance dashboards and KPIs in partnership with Operations and Program Management.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment on factory upgrades, capital investments, and process changes.

  • Coach and mentor junior Industrial Engineers and process improvement specialists.

  • Ensure compliance with cleanroom, ESD, space hardware handling, and quality system requirements.

  • Support digital transformation of the factory including MES enhancements, automation integration, and data-driven operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.

  • 6+ years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or operations engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-part stakeholder projects or factory improvement initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and modeling skills (Excel, Python, SQL, simulation tools).

  • Experience in complex electromechanical assembly environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or space hardware experience (satellite, avionics, precision structures, or high-reliability electronics).

  • Experience with Solumina, SAP, FactoryLogix, or comparable MES/ERP systems.

  • Experience with Factory Simulation tools: Siemens, FlexSim, Simio, or equivalent.

  • Professional Certifications: PMP, Lean 6-sigma, etc.

  • Experience developing capital project proposals or leading factory layout redesigns.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from technicians to executives.

Industrial Engineer Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 USD

Employees may be asked to support alternate shifts, extended shifts, and/or travel during peak work periods.
