Senior Revenue Accountant

Moogsoft is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of revenue-related transactions in accordance with the current 606 revenue recognition standard. This person will play an integral role in the team’s accounting for arrangements processed through our Accounting systems.

Role and Responsibilities

• Review revenue contracts and prepare revenue checklists to evaluate for appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606
• Ensure the accurate reporting of revenue in the company’s accounting system, including creating sales orders, preparing invoices, journal entries, and account reconciliations as well as performing internal controls
• Manage sales tax license compliance and timely remittance
• Assist in proposing and implementing revenue accounting policies and drafting process narratives
• Research and evaluate new technical accounting standards and prepare revenue policy memos
• Work with the global Sales team to provide guidance on deal structure while maintaining adherence to revenue recognition policy and booking requirements
• Ensure accurate customer contract setup so that sales orders are processed per revenue recognition requirements
• Ensure integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls
• Recommend efficiency and effectiveness improvements as appropriate
• Be a key part of the annual audit with external auditors and the overall accounting team
• Collaborate with organizations across the company (Legal, Sales, Order Operations, Professional Services) to operationalize the Company’s revenue policy
• Manage AR Aging and collaborate with customers as required
• Participate in special projects as needed

Skills and Experience

• 4 to 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong technical revenue recognition experience with ASC 606 preferred
• Big 4 public accounting experience and CPA preferredSoftware/SaaS company experience preferred
• System experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Avalara desired
• Ability and desire to learn new skills with an enthusiasm for acquiring systems knowledge
• Ability to identify areas for improvements on existing processes through change is a strong plus
• Ability to research technical accounting issues and provide your perspective
• Ability to work both independently and as a great teammate
• Strong customer service orientation with excellent oral and written communication skills
