THE CHALLENGE
Financial Engineering is incredibly important for any global marketplace. The success of Eventbrite as well as our creators depends on building and maintaining a best-in-class financial ecosystem that produces, monitors, and validates Eventbrite’s financial data. We are looking for a strong Senior Engineer to join our Payouts & Billing team to help us continue to drive innovation within the payout experience for our creators. Most of the work we do is backend development, but we do have some frontend components so the ideal candidate is comfortable working in both areas.
THE TEAM
The Payouts & Billing team is part of the Money Systems pillar and is responsible for building infrastructure for, and maintaining the health of, Eventbrite’s systems responsible for ensuring our creators get paid for the events they’ve hosted on our platform. We are tasked with ensuring that Eventbrite’s most sensitive solutions are as stable, scalable, and accurate as possible. We build tools and processes to manipulate, move, audit, and reconcile financial data. We also consult other teams on best practices when working with high-risk data and code.
One thing you should know: our organization is very people-focused. Engineers help each other, work on problems together, mentor each other, fail together, and actively develop their careers. Consistent pairing, weekly demos, tech talks, and regular hackathons are at the core of how we’ve built our team and product.
THE ROLE
You’ll work with an all star team to take Eventbrite’s financial platform to the next level. You’ll build innovative solutions that drive the success of both the business and our customers and will engage with Engineers and Product Experts across the organization to push the business forward. While most of the code we own is backend focused, we’re a full stack team and own several frontend components as well.
You’ll be a key voice in conversations (along with the entire team) in refining the work that we do - contributing to decisions about how we do the work we have to do. You’ll contribute to Eventbrite engineering’s culture of technical excellence through inclusivity and mentorship.
THE TECH STACK
Eventbrite is one of the world’s largest Django-powered sites by request volume. Python, Django, and MySQL are the primary off-the-shelf technologies in our stack. We are hosted on AWS, and are in the process of building to an exciting 3 year technical vision that you can read about here: https://www.eventbrite.com/engineering/writing-our-3-year-technical-vision/.
