About This Role

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead cross-functional programs within our Growth team that span Product Management, Design, Research, Engineering, Business Development and Marketing. The position will partner with teams to develop and elevate successful ways of working, and maintain strong and clear communication channels. This role is a central operating position within our product organization.

The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of the product development process, and can partner with cross functional teams to architect ways of working for scale. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable with ambiguity and are able to provide structure and leadership in managing complex programs. You’ll influence how we approach problem solving and scale those learnings across our product development process.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of large programs consisting of multiple complex projects, from ideation through launch and post launch.

  • Operate as the Scrum Master and be the Agile champion.

  • Estimate staffing and infrastructure needs with help from functional and cross-functional leads in order to develop the project plan and schedule.

  • Coordinate release planning with Product Management, Design and Research, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, and Business Development teams.

  • Ensure proper documentation of scope of work with help from cross-functional leads.

  • Drive Product Team members and other cross-functional leads to identify and unblock issues and track and resolve cross-team dependencies.

  • Work with team leads to ensure that handoffs between teams are never dropped and are transferred with clear responsibilities, ownership, and delivery expectations.

  • Create and improve product and technical operations so that projects and teams operate effectively and efficiently.

  • Communicate roadmaps and status updates to cross-functional, leadership and executive teams.

  • Manage the change control process for when additional requests for features or functionality are made, or when unplanned work arises.

  • Act as primary escalation path for any project-related issues for assigned projects.

  • Act as the safety-net for cross-functional teams: identifying and owning all new problems and issues as they arrive, and working each issue appropriately until the proper new owner is identified.

  • Anticipate and mitigate risk by conducting assessments across the program to determine if the implementation plans meet stakeholder requirements and will achieve strategic objectives.

  • Identify core problems or opportunities within business processes. Understand the root cause and impacts for the project and other teams. Communicate and collaborate with the right people to implement timely solutions.

You will be successful here by:

  • Being a positive influence, a great communicator, and a team player.

  • Understanding and evangelizing your program’s strategy and its benefits to Strava.

  • Keeping a growth attitude. Constantly asking how we can improve our own frameworks and processes.

  • Not being afraid to ask questions, learn, share and iterate on ways of working, your product space, and program management tactics.

  • Having a highly collaborative approach, a portfolio of work that demonstrates cross functional impact and approach to learning

  • Having strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills

We’re excited about you because:

  • You are eager to help drive forward our commitment to becoming an antiracist company through the lenses of audience understanding, product development, messaging and communication.

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of software program management experience in growth, ecommerce, or subscription management.

  • You bring energy, ideas, and creativity to the team

  • You have a strong understanding of the product development life cycle

  • You have an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship
