Location
This is a remote-first role, requiring:

<li>Ability to work Pacific time zone hours.</li>
<li>Willingness to travel to Orange County for in-person meetings 1-2 weeks per quarter.</li>

Liftoff is a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, and NYC. Given that most of the team is based in Orange County, it would be beneficial for the individual to be located in the OC/Los Angeles area for regular in-person meetings at our OC office (Costa Mesa, CA 92626). Most of the local team meets in-office once per week. We are also open to candidates located on the West Coast who are willing to travel regularly (one week per quarter) to the OC office.
Responsibilities

<li>Take ownership and work with various product management, development and quality assurance groups in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Design, engineer & implement highly-available, fault-tolerant, distributed systems enhancing our real-time bidding system</li>
<li>Focusing on code readability, performance, testing, documentation, continuous integration</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Become familiar with core development, product release and its business</li>
<li>Implementing new features and streamlining existing services</li>
<li>Minimizing complexity and increasing shared understanding</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Share knowledge and best practices with team members.</li>
<li>PagerDuty on-call rotation</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>BS in Computer Science with 5+ years professional experience; or MS in Computer Science with 3+ years of professional experience; or equivalent work experience</li>
<li>Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Golang (preferable), C/C++, Java, Python</li>
<li>Experience building low-latency, high-throughput, distributed backend services</li>
<li>Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures, and algorithms</li>
<li>Knowledge of profiling and debugging distributed microservices</li>
<li>Experience building data-intensive applications.</li>
<li>Experience with distributed system observability metrics, using it for data driven design decisions</li>
<li>Have good team communication and collaboration skills.</li>
<li>Passionate about helping others and invested in the team’s success</li>
<li>Good at English (oral, writing, reading)</li>
</ul>
Preferred Experience
<ul>
<li>Previous experience in ad-tech</li>
<li>Proficient in Golang</li>
<li>Redis, RocksDB, Mongo, Kafka</li>
<li>gRPC, RestAPI, GraphQL</li>

Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate location and experience. The following are our base salary ranges for this role:
 SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $170,000 - $190,000 Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $155,000 - $175,000 All other cities and towns in our approved states: $145,000 - $165,000

Liftoff's compensation strategy includes competitive market rate along with equity and benefits and perks that will give our employees what they need to do their best work. In order to ensure teams are compensated fairly for the work performed, we map out specific levels and take into consideration the cost of labor within each location. Liftoff provides employees a total compensation package of competitive market salaries, equity, health and wellness stipends, medical benefits associated with your country of residence. The base compensation will vary based on location, experience as well as level.
