Summary Generated by Built In

As a member of our growing engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Telegraf, an open source tool for collecting and storing events and metrics. This role will be primarily developing and reviewing Go code, using and debugging assorted systems to collect data from, and interacting with the open source community.

We are looking for candidates who value continually refining their skills in coding and building tools that benefit the open source development community. You'll need to be open to experimenting, which means that sometimes you might fail. (That's okay.) Along with that, you'll need the persistence to keep going and try again. You'll also be working closely with your team, so you'll need to be empathic, supportive, and excited to teach as well as learn.

This role is remote, with USA, UK, and Western European time zone residents preferred.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with the Open Source community to improve Telegraf
  • Effectively troubleshooting issues and addressing bugs
  • Communicating in writing and developing publically with the Telegraf/InfluxDB community

Your skills and experience:

  • 3+ years working on system level, networking, and backend code
  • While development can be done on any platform, comfortable debugging in a Linux command line environment
  • Familiarity with some of the existing Telegraf integrations
  • Experience in unit and integration testing
  • Extensive experience with Git

Bonus:

  • Professional experience with Go
  • Have worked or contributed to Telegraf or other Open Source projects

*We are unable to sponsor visas at this time (new or transfers) in any location*

Some of these roles that are posted in different locations denote that they’re open in general to remote candidates within the areas that we support. From a remote perspective, we currently support Canada, the UK, Germany, Italy and the US.

Interview Process All our interviews are done remotely. Often the first interview is by phone or video and all subsequent interviews via video on Zoom. In order to ensure each candidate we interview is able to participate, please let us know if you do not have the ability to use a phone and/or laptop.
