Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status

About the Team and Role

Crunchyroll Games is a new division of Crunchyroll passionate about bringing the best of anime and anime-look games to Crunchyroll’s global audience. We work with a variety of global and domestic partners to help publish games to over 100+ countries, and bring more fans into the anime games ecosystem. Our team is composed of anime enthusiasts, authorities within gaming, and mash-up of keenly intelligent and driven individuals. We are highly collaborative, and partner with multiple team members to ensure success in a fast-growing market.

We are looking for a Director of Games Operations to lead all aspects of day-to-day operations across our numerous game efforts across both published and developing titles. This is a very senior level role, and will be tasked to supervise a multi-disciplinary team across marketing, product, partnerships, original devs, and publishing. You will also be leading key games' performance while maintaining an objective focus for the division. Ultimately, this role will be responsible for the lasting success of key games initiatives, and lead a P&L across multiple games and operating streams.

About Yourself

You must be a natural leader, capable of defining and implementing a strategic vision, managing towards key pillars and division-wide objectives, while working with senior partners both internally and externally. You excel at critical thinking and crafting strategy, but have both the experience and desire to get deep into tactics, mentoring and managing a growing team and providing leadership on multiple fronts. You are very results oriented, but know when to take a step back and adapt your thinking and methods in an ever-evolving industry and growing company.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, managing cross-functional team members
  • 8+ years validated experience in media, games, and entertainment
  • Track record of leading large-scale, multi-threaded, and end-to-end projects
  • Experience running a layered P&L and budget
  • Highly strategic problem solver, but very capable day-to-day operator
  • Ability translate strategy into tactics, formulating long term plans
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal and external partners, and building consensus across a range of goals and objectives
  • Effectively communication skills for collaborating with senior and executive level counterparts at other companies
  • Comfortable presenting proposals, plans, and strategies to a wide range of collaborators across various teams
  • Flexible and quick-thinking, you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • A very fast learner and able to learn new context quickly
  • Must have a respect for fandoms, and understand the importance of community-building
  • Experience in management consulting or strategy and operations role a strong plus

Typical Week in this Role

  • Manage the Games division, conducting cross-functional meetings, 1:1s, strategy discussions, and collaborating with other division heads
  • Run a P&L driven business unit that and ensure focus on industry-relevant important metrics
  • Be the point person for the division’s week to week operations, games status, and overall performance health
  • Coordinate launch timelines, game operations, and product iterations for critical games and original projects
  • Provide consistent mentorship on tactical operations while helping to define and drive an evolving strategic vision
  • Work closely with the GM of Games to drive the division forward
