ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our Strategic Finance team, reporting to the ​Head of Finance, GTM. You will be an integral part of a small and highly-leveraged team supporting the GTM business, including monthly and quarterly close process, budgeting and forecasting, expense management and analysis and projects to help support the company’s long-term growth. Additionally, you will be expected to expand beyond typical financial responsibilities and act as a strategic thought partner to business leaders. You’ll work closely with business leaders as their partner to drive thoughtful analysis that will inform the strategic direction of the business. Expectations include working cross-functionally and establishing/improving processes to enable Benchling’s continued hyper-growth.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Build and maintain full year budgets and quarterly forecasts for various GTM Organizations (Sales, Marketing, Solution Consulting, Sales Enablement, Professional Services, Support, Customer Success)
  • Deliver monthly/quarterly analyses of financial results including BvA variances to plan, ensuring key issues, risks and business drivers are understood and proactively highlighted
  • Partner with business leaders to drive strategic initiatives influencing business decisions and by providing proactive recommendations, backed by strong business and financial analysis
  • Support the company-wide annual and long-range planning processes
  • Partner with Accounting on monthly close activities such as vendor trend reviews
  • Develop and continually improve sales and customer metrics (ARR, ASP, penetration, share of wallet etc., quota attainment etc..)
  • Support commissions calculations and reporting, analytics and support annual comp plan design
  • Drive ad-hoc projects and analysis to support Benchling’s long-term growth

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent area.
  • 8+ years experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity or FP&A at a High Growth Startup or Public Company (Enterprise Software / SaaS experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding and substantial knowledge of complex financial modeling, GAAP accounting and FP&A best practices
  • Strong Communication Skills - ability to distill and articulate complex data to drive business decisions. Experience presenting analyses to management and ability to lead and drive initiatives
  • Organized and detail-oriented - ability to work in situations with changing priorities, tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated, curious, hard-working team player with a thoughtful, humble and positive attitude
  • Expert in Excel and PPT/Google Suite
  • Experience with Netsuite, Financial Planning tools, and Analytics tools (Looker, Tableau, SQL, etc.) a plus
