As a Sr Software Engineer - Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) you’ll be part of the Developer Experience Team and empower engineers and developers across the organization by working on high impact initiatives; identify bottlenecks and pain points in our development process; stay informed on how to apply ever-changing open-source tools and third party platforms to improve Nextdoor products, design innovative solutions and build new tools.  Specific job duties include: Write code to create or improve tools that will be used by other software developers as part of their workflow; Improve our documentation around our architecture by creating descriptions of our systems, and diagramming how these various systems fit together; Monitor the overall health and performance of our software, diagnosing root causes when issues occur, and fixing bugs when necessary; Work cross-functionally with engineers from other teams in the organization to understand their tooling needs, and develop creative solutions to simplify our systems, and optimize them for scale; Regularly review the state of our architecture, and take steps to proactively plan for projected needs as we scale deployment across multiple AWS regions; and Audit our deployment pipeline for unreliable components, and design improvements that reduce brittle components of our architecture.  

What You’ll Bring To The Team

• Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in any quantitative field of study.
• Five (5) years of experience in software engineering.
• In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, employer will accept 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated experience must include: Object-oriented programming, design patterns, algorithms, programming languages, networking and Linux OS; SQL, relational database schema design and ORM technologies; Implementing front-end applications with HTML/Javascript/CSS; Application scalability at any application tier; and Build systems with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
