As Staff Frontend Engineer, you will build user-facing features for our massive audience of 315M+ unique visitors per month. We use the latest frontend technologies, and build engagement features across the Fandom platform using rapid data-driven development. You get to own large and meaningful projects.

You Will...

  • Lead web projects at Fandom scale 
  • Drive experimentation to confront the hardest problems we are solving at Fandom
  • Partner with Product Management and engineering teams to build new features across the fandom platform
  • Solve the most complex and challenging engineering problems
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and plan the roadmap for your team
  • Lead internal standards of style, maintainability, security, and performance for at-scale frontend web projects
  • Identify critical systems that need to change and features that need to be built to deliver on upcoming projects
  • Keep up to date with the frontend ecosystem and share knowledge with engineers across fandom
  • Mentor other frontend engineers

You Have...

  • 6+ years of experience with front end web technologies
  • Expert at core web and browser concepts (eg. how the browser parses and constructs a web page, how data is stored and accessed in only a browser context)
  • HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript
  • ReactJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (Vue, Angular, Ember, etc)
  • Bundling tools (webpack, rollup, parcel, etc)
  • Develop user-facing software
  • Write automated tests (eg. Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, tape)
  • Comfort working in a highly iterative software development process and AB testing
  • Testing methodologies (unit, integration, happy paths)
  •  

Bonus Points if You Have...

  • A strong sense of web design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience
  • Experience with the latest and greatest web standards, including fetch, service workers, etc.
  • Scripting experience (python or Node.js)
  • Backend language (Java, PHP, or Node.js)
  • Jenkins or other automation tools
