ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is hiring a Corporate Strategy Manager who will be responsible for developing our perspectives on the long-term evolution of the biotech industry. We are looking for a curious individual who can blend qualitative and quantitative approaches to understanding the highest impact trends in biotech from the science to the software. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to lead development of novel, thought provoking research. The Strategy Manager will regularly collaborate with corporate strategy, product, and corporate marketing.
The ideal candidate will have experience in or across management consulting, R&D, and SaaS go-to-market. Experience in life sciences or R&D in other key verticals (e.g., agriculture, consumer packaged goods, industrial goods) is preferred.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Conceive and deliver research on relevant trends in our key industry verticals and partner with marketing to bring that messaging to the market, including to executive personas
  • Partner with the head of corporate strategy on developing our long-term thesis for new markets and market prioritization
  • Maintain a significant external presence, from relationships with customer executives to conference attendance to understanding the startup ecosystem
  • Own and continuously refine our executive messaging that supports Benchling thought leadership
  • Plan and execute cross-customer and/or broader collaborations designed to drive industry alignment in non-competitive areas, e.g., data standards, that support Benchling’s entry and positioning in new markets

ABOUT YOU

  • 5-10+ years of combined experience working in/across strategy, management consulting, equity research, private equity, or other roles responsible for analyzing and synthesizing industry trends
  • Possess a product-centric view of problem solving and an understanding of commercialization/go-to-market in software companies (GTM)
  • Deep curiosity about life sciences, our customers, and our markets
  • Express generative and creative thinking
  • Communicate clearly across all mediums, especially written
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Prioritize well and move easily between long-term projects and short-term deal sprints
  • Invest in building reusable processes and work products
