Your role as Fictiv’s Supplier Development Engineer will focus on the growth and evolution of the Manufacturing Partner network (they’re more than just Suppliers). In this role, you’ll be using your background (degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Engineering) and experience in supplier sourcing and development to uplevel Fictiv’s globally distributed Manufacturing Partner network. This role will be focused on growing the relationships with our partners who offer our core manufacturing services (with a weighted focus towards CNC machining and injection molding), allowing them to better support our customers’ needs. You will create programs for our Manufacturing Partners which will help them reduce their costs, mitigate industry challenges, expand their capabilities, expand their capacity for Fictiv work, and grow their business. Where necessary, you’ll use your negotiation skills to implement agreements which will encourage performance improvements and foster long term alignment of business goals.
Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for strengthening relationships with our strategic partners, allowing them to grow their business and take on more Fictiv work. You will work directly with the Strategic Sourcing Managers to ensure that we have the right mix, capacity, and capabilities of supply to meet and exceed customers technical, lead time, and cost requirements.
You will report to the Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Negotiation - Negotiation of terms of relationship (e.g. Master Supply Agreements, Capacity Service Level Agreements) with our strategic Manufacturing Partners that focuses on growing monthly revenue and job count, as well as improving quality and delivery performance.
- Programs to Maximize Engagement - Propose and oversee the implementation of partnerships and programs to empower the growth of our partners and drive greater engagement within our digital manufacturing ecosystem.
- Collaborating with our Manufacturing Partners to improve their internal business processes and the speed at which they can turn around manufacturing jobs.
- Agile Onboarding / Growth Processes - oversee the development of agile, closed-loop processes to quickly identify new capability and capacity needs and correspondingly identify partners that would be best suited to grow to support this demand.
- Develop & execute against strategies to drive down COGS & lead time for the procurement of custom mechanical components within Fictiv’s supply chain.
- Cooperate with stakeholders to make improvements on our internal procedures and platform that will reduce friction for our Manufacturing Partners.
- Discover and partner with third parties who can add value for Fictiv’s Manufacturing Partner network.
Desired Experience
- 7+ years experience as a supplier development engineer, strategic sourcing manager, global supply manager, commodity manager, supplier quality engineer, or manufacturing engineer with direct experience working with suppliers.
- Must have experience working directly with CNC machining (milling, turning) and understand the operations of a machine shop
- Experience proposing, justifying, and implementing broad-reaching programs to drive business value
- Ability to conduct difficult negotiates and sustain good working relationships
- Fantastic interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
- Minimum BS degree in mechanical engineering, supply chain management, logistics, engineering or business administration; MS preferred
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Self-starter, manages time efficiently, able to complete work in a timely manner without active supervision
