ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is seeking a Technical Writer to work with our Customer Experience (CX) Operations organization to help us build robust documentation for our customers and internal teams. 

You will report to our Leader of Knowledge Management and Technical Writing and will support initiatives to ensure quality and exhaustiveness of our documentation. During our ongoing migration to a new Knowledge Management tool, within this role, you will work closely with our Technical Writer to ensure that the necessary documents are migrated over and that our documentation follows the Benchling standards and style guide. Not only will you assist in ensuring content comprehensiveness and the look & feel of the content is representative of Benchling quality, but you also will have the opportunity to work closely with subject matter experts to help refine Benchling documentation.

Note: This is a temporary position. Duration: flexible (20 hours per week for 6 months or 40 hours per week for 3 months)


WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

Documentation

  • Auditing, editing, and employing consistent standards and styles across documentation
  • Ownership over the migration and quality of key product documentation across knowledge systems 
  • Working closely with subject matter experts to ensure existing product documentation is accurate and comprehensive 

Process & Problem Solving

  • Willingness to identify process improvements
  • Collaborating with internal teams to problem solve knowledge issues and solve documentation gaps 

ABOUT YOU

  • Education in English, Communications, or a Life Sciences discipline. Being comfortable with and excited about science and scientific topics is a plus!
  • 0-3+ years of experience. Technical writing, proofreading, publishing, knowledge management, project management and operations roles are preferred. 
  • Communicate clearly across all mediums, especially written
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Have work from home experience and feel comfortable working in a remote setting
  • Trust-worthy, tendency towards action and thrive working independently 
  • Flexible and able to adjust on the fly to new demands
  • Time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work based on rapidly changing requirements
  • A plus, if you have some coding experience (e.g. HTML)
  • A plus, if you have experience in Zendesk, Quip, Slab, and/or Google Analytics
  • A plus, if you are familiar with and/or have experience with Knowledge Centered Service (KCS)
