About the role

The VP, Technology Business Operations in the technology organization is the SVP of Engineering’s strategic partner, right hand, and execution accelerator in all aspects of operational rhythms and projects for the SVP. Your job will span strategy, planning, execution, and a wide array of functions and special projects, with an overarching focus on moving the business forward through sound business decisions and aligned decision making.

Examples of scope, functions and special projects that will be part of this function include:

  • Drive transformative strategic initiatives, long range planning, and best practices
  • Develop policies & priorities to implement decisions made by SVP/Execs
  • Create processes and initiatives to foster engineers as customer champions, participate in building customer/vendor/partner briefings/meetings, and partner with Member Services and Voice of Customer ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mature organizational management of external vendors, partnerships, and operations
  • Drive processes across Technology for strategy, roadmaps and planning and closely partner with Product Management and other functional groups.
  • Create robust processes for resource management, planning, and forecasting
  • Lead process re-engineering initiatives
  • Technology diversity/inclusion programs
  • Engineering processes for new product introduction disciplines and continuous improvement
  • Training/leadership development
  • Technology M&A as well as integration playbooks
  • Standardize vendor evaluation and selection processes
  • Planning and coordination with Finance, People, Facilities and other functions for both immediate and long term planning for workforce planning, resources, budgeting, and process improvement.

You will work closely with senior leaders to make an impact in the technology organization. You will do this by facilitating best practices, helping teams develop action plans where needed, and holding them accountable for the next steps. You will be a multiplier for our SVP of Engineering, gathering feedback, proposing solutions, driving solutions, and tackling special projects. Every day will be different but equally fast-paced and challenging, and you will have unparalleled access to senior leadership in Technology at every step. 

This is a key leadership role at a leading growth stage, pre-IPO company. 

In this role, you can expect to

  • Provide guidance and direct feedback to the SVP of engineering and senior management team on business needs within the technology organization
  • Drive strategic planning processes that tie business strategies with detailed strategic models that cover all aspects of Technology. From driving strategic planning processes, to creating immediate term alignment with business objectives.
  • Drive and facilitate processes that yield strategies covering critical areas such as: enterprise-wide architecture plans, resource planning, system projections, vendors, and overall budgets.
  • Partnering with Finance Teams, People Teams, Data teams, and Program Management, this role will develop immediate term detailed models for budgeting, headcount and resource management, and investment portfolio views that align with business objectives and ROI models.  Drive programs to streamline and automate processes to simplify management visibility and control.
  • Influence and drive cross functional leadership alignment and accountability. Partner with business leaders to promote cross organizational collaboration and alignment.
  • Own the Chief of Staff responsibilities for the SVP of Engineering across Technology & Engineering Groups. This includes owning and managing our Technology senior management meetings, agendas and driving accountability and clarity across engineering leaders.  Plan communications and audiences to optimize cross-organizational coordination.
  • Create and manage operating routines that facilitate communication, decision-making, leadership alignment, team engagement throughout the Technology organization. Streamline communication across our leadership team. Facilitate effective decision-making throughout the tech organization, proactively setting the context and documenting decisions
  • Own execution of Technology special projects
  • Understand the pulse of the company, team, and culture and make sure we maintain focus and discipline.
  • Partner with Technical Program Management, Program Management, and Business Leaders on strategic planning and OKRs to ensure we have clear goals and align our efforts around them 
  • Summarize and present complex issues through presentations and financial models
  • Partner across the organization with key leaders from Finance, People, Legal, Communications, and other functions
  • Identify and create processes and functions to benefit the entire organization so that Chime’s fast growing organization scales to operate as a world class Technology Company
  • Be a catalyst for change while partnering with leaders across the organization.

  • Executive presence with a  proven track record of working closely and building rapport with C-level/VP-level leaders while also influencing across multiple levels and functions of an organization.
  • Ability to connect, listen and engage at all levels of the organization to build trust, consensus and partnerships.
  • The ability to dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and have a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity while finding solutions.
  • Excellent judgment - you know how to spend your limited time and how to get to the root of an issue and drive towards a decision
  • Enthusiasm to engage with leadership at a high level but get involved in the execution details 
  • BA/BS and MBA is a plus
