Design, build, and scale highly available backend and frontend systems powering Coinbase trading experiences for millions of users. Design, build, and maintain blockchain network infrastructure that exposes reliable platform APIs. Lead multi-quarter integrations, re-architectures, and data migrations. Apply deep knowledge of major blockchain protocols to simplify cross-chain operations and improve latency, reliability, and cost.

Own and improve the GraphQL API platform connecting client apps to backend services. Design and build high-reliability, low-latency microservices, optimize caching and connections, own SLOs and observability, lead incident response, deliver projects end-to-end, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to define APIs and platform tooling.

Execute end-to-end financial crime compliance audits including scoping, testing, reporting, and remediation validation. Engage stakeholders, identify control gaps, perform root cause analysis, draft actionable recommendations, validate fixes, and apply AML and sanctions regulatory knowledge. Use data analysis (SQL preferred) and responsible generative AI to support testing and reporting in a remote-first environment.

Lead policy and public affairs communications: craft narratives for regulatory and legislative moments, partner with legal/policy teams, manage earned media and rapid response, drive digital advocacy on X and other platforms, and build Coinbases brand authority across election and regulatory cycles.

Design, build, and own backend systems for prediction markets including order management, matching, clearing, settlement, and market resolution. Architect low-latency, highly-available distributed systems with strict financial correctness, lead cross-functional initiatives, set engineering standards, mentor engineers, and drive migration to a full Coinbase-operated exchange and clearing platform.

Leads and develops a six-person engineering team building Coinbase’s financial account and transaction-history infrastructure. Responsibilities include re-architecting distributed systems, owning internal tooling roadmaps, guiding architectural decisions across streaming and full-stack platforms, managing quarterly execution, recruiting engineers, and overseeing engineering quality, incident response, SLAs, and on-call practices.
