Lead design for Gusto's Payroll product, managing a team of designers, defining UX vision, and collaborating cross-functionally to simplify payroll processes.

Own and scale Gusto's VC & PE partnership strategy, building programmatic, high-leverage partner motions. Lead cross-functional initiatives with Marketing, Events, Sales, and internal teams to drive ARR, pipeline influence, and founder reach while serving as Tier 1 contact for high-impact partners and representing Gusto externally.

Provides end-to-end legal advice for payroll, fintech, tax, payments, privacy, and regulated product development. Partners with product, engineering, design, commercial, and risk teams; negotiates with counterparties; manages product legal risk; and builds scalable legal processes, playbooks, and AI-powered review tools. The role also drives innovation, advises on domestic and international product launches, and helps business teams make risk-based decisions.

Lead the configuration, enhancement, reporting, security, testing, and support of Workday across payroll, absence, time tracking, HCM, talent, and compensation. Develop business processes, calculated fields, reports, dashboards, and audit controls; lead release testing and issue resolution; ensure data quality and scalable solutions. Partner with People, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders, advise senior partners, mentor team members, and guide Workday best practices and policy development.

Lead full-cycle recruiting for design and specialized technology roles, with a focus on sourcing, talent advising, market mapping, candidate experience, and senior stakeholder partnership. Build always-on talent pipelines, use data and AI to improve recruiting strategies, and flex into Product Management, Data, and other technical searches. Develop San Francisco’s design community through events and relationships while collaborating across People, compensation, operations, and candidate experience teams.

Design and lead AI-enabled FP&A architecture across planning, forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis. Build ML-assisted forecasts and agentic workflows, establish governed finance data foundations, implement auditability and controls, evaluate tools, and drive AI adoption across Finance. Partner with Finance, Data, Engineering, and the CFO organization while measuring forecast accuracy, cycle-time reduction, and decision efficiency.

Own the technical strategy and outcomes for Gusto’s expansion funnel, including recommendations, nurture journeys, and self-service conversion experiences. Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to define roadmaps, design experiments, iterate from results, and deliver measurable revenue impact. Lead architecture, technical direction, code quality, mentoring, delegation, refactoring, reliability, and performance initiatives across customer-facing products.

Build and own backend payroll platform services and APIs used by multiple engineering teams. Drive architecture, scalability, reliability, observability, and performance for compliant payroll processing. Partner with product and engineering teams to solve ambiguous technical problems, guide platform adoption, and evolve foundational systems. Use AI-assisted development tools and help promote responsible adoption across the team.

Build and lead customer-facing expansion experiences across recommendations, nurture campaigns, booking flows, and plan upgrades. Design frontend applications, backend APIs, data models, and experimentation programs that improve conversion, adoption, and retention. Own complex multi-quarter initiatives, mentor engineers, address performance and reliability challenges, and collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Platform teams to deliver measurable customer impact.

Own end-to-end product design across Gusto’s Money, Banking, Retirement, and HR Experience organizations. Translate ambiguous problems into trustworthy, accessible, high-craft experiences, including AI-native interactions. Partner with product, engineering, data, and research teams; shape roadmaps; evolve design systems; conduct customer research; and address uncertainty, errors, compliance sensitivity, and human handoffs.

Lead Gusto’s internal controls function across business processes and IT controls. Build the team and ICFR strategy, oversee control design, testing, documentation, remediation, and auditor relationships. Partner with Accounting, Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and Risk to embed scalable controls into products and systems. Establish AI-enabled controls, governance, training, and reporting to senior leadership and the Audit Committee.

Own paid social strategy and execution across major platforms, managing multimillion-dollar budgets and full-funnel campaigns. Lead creative testing, attribution, forecasting, channel experimentation, and AI-powered marketing workflows. Identify and scale emerging digital media channels, optimize landing-page conversion, ensure reliable tracking, and collaborate with brand, web, sales, product marketing, communications, engineering, and influencer teams to drive pipeline and revenue.

Leads organization-wide software initiatives for Gusto’s Agent & Partner Experiences platform. Designs public APIs and agent-facing tools, develops clean and performant Ruby on Rails code, works with developer customers, mentors engineers, improves reliability and observability, and resolves production issues. The role requires technical ownership across complex domains, platform-scale API expertise, and strong communication with engineering and business stakeholders.

Conduct complex enhanced due diligence and KYC investigations for high-risk customers, analyzing beneficial ownership, sanctions, PEPs, adverse media, source of funds, and entity structures. Prepare investigative summaries and SARs, resolve escalated alerts, make risk-based onboarding and exit recommendations, use and validate AI-enabled research tools, improve workflows, and mentor junior analysts.

Conduct complex end-to-end fraud investigations involving account takeover, business email compromise, identity theft, payment fraud, and social engineering. Analyze transactional, authentication, communications, and external intelligence data; document investigative narratives; prepare Unusual Activity Referrals; recommend risk-based remediation; support customer recovery efforts; validate AI-assisted outputs; collaborate cross-functionally to improve fraud controls; and mentor junior analysts.

Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Gusto’s Payroll Platform. Define unified APIs, shared interfaces, controls, audit trails, and migration plans while driving platform adoption. Partner across engineering, design, data, compliance, and consuming teams to balance speed, safety, reliability, and customer outcomes. Build AI-agent capabilities for payroll through prototyping, evaluations, and evidence-based automation.

Build and own backend services and APIs supporting Gusto Retirement’s financial infrastructure, including payments, settlements, reconciliation, payroll integrations, compliance workflows, loans, billing, and IRAs. Ship reliable production code, debug incidents, improve observability and operational tooling, collaborate with product, compliance, and operations, and mentor engineers. The role requires strong ownership of complex, high-correctness financial systems and end-to-end production support.

Build and operate AWS cloud infrastructure through Terraform/OpenTofu and Spacelift. Lead multi-account AWS migrations, develop reusable infrastructure modules, improve platform reliability, strengthen disaster recovery and compliance, support engineering teams, and participate in incident response and on-call operations. The role also drives multi-quarter infrastructure initiatives and uses AI-assisted tools to improve automation and troubleshooting.

Own the end-to-end PEO onboarding experience, from discovery through setup. Set technical direction, build scalable full-stack product experiences, integrate across teams, and improve onboarding through funnel instrumentation and experimentation.
