About the team:
The Analytics Engineering team's mission is to make the decision-making process at Mixpanel as data-informed as possible. This team is responsible for building, maintaining & providing access to clean datasets for teams within Mixpanel which enables them to find self-serve answers.
We own the data in our data warehouse (BigQuery) and the tools that move data into/out of this warehouse (Fivetran, tray.io, census, hightouch). We collaborate closely with teams within the company and make sure that they have access to the required data in their analytics tool of choice (Mixpanel, Salesforce, Mode)
About the role:
This role requires someone who enjoys working with diverse functions across the company, understanding their unique analytics use cases, engineering creative solutions, and consulting with them on best practices to build reliable data sources. You will apply software engineering practices such as version control, automated testing, documentation & code review in your day-to-day.
Because a lot of our customers also likely require the same kind of solutions that we have built internally at Mixpanel, you’ll have the unique opportunity to influence our product roadmap & strategic initiatives within the company through your work.
Responsibilities:
- Work with data analysts, and other teams within the company to design, model their data to satisfy their analysis requirements
- Put in place tooling and frameworks to facilitate data governance, quality, and shared analysis between internal organizations
- Own the data in the warehouse and represent the team with various stakeholders
What we're looking for someone who has:
- 2+ years of experience of writing performant, iterable, and easy to debug SQL
- 1+ years of experience in Python (or any other scripting language)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to rapidly understand the business context from new data assets
- A strong understanding of data quality testing
- Individuals who are motivated by enabling and helping others within the company to be data-driven
Bonus Points:
- Experience working with Google BigQuery, Redshift, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with cloud-based ETL technologies (i.e Google cloud functions, Fivetran, tray.io, dbt, census)
