Opportunity
UJET is looking for a Director of Revenue and Technical Accounting to join our fast growing Finance organization. In this role you will lead the day to day operations of our revenue accounting function, leveraging your technical expertise with US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, and to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to develop world-class operational processes. A successful person in this role will enjoy multitasking and have the ability to pivot with shifting priorities. Our team is highly collaborative, and this role involves engaging with team leads across other departments as well as managing team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead global revenue recognition activities including technical revenue recognition, monthly revenue close, and deal desk review.
- Hands-on in the monthly revenue accounting closing process
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders (legal, revenue operations, sales, FP&A, etc.) to collaborate on non-routine transactions, new product offerings and process improvements.
- Review significant and non standard customer agreements to evaluate revenue recognition impacts and propose solutions that align with internal policies and company objectives.
- Lead determination and documentation of accounting conclusions related to other complex, non-revenue related, transactions and own communication of those conclusions to internal stakeholders and auditors.
- Maintain revenue accounting policies and research/document new accounting conclusions as it pertains to complex sales arrangements.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the design and implementation of system projects impacting the revenue accounting team.
- Drive career development and leadership for the revenue operations team for the team to excel as the company continues to scale.
- Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects
- Maintain relationships with external auditors, provide pragmatic solutions and alternatives to challenging audit requests and inquiries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in industry and/or public accounting
- CPA required, advanced degree preferred
- Strong technical skills and experience in financial reporting and US GAAP accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Extensive experience implementing and maintaining billing, revenue recognition and accounting systems, including Zuora and Netsuite
- Proven ability to build highly effective teams and develop talent
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and desire to collaborate.
