Your Impact:

Handshake is hiring an Engineering Manager reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, on the Education team to give our educational partners the tools they need to help millions of students to find their first job opportunities.

You will also have opportunities to:

  • Work on complex technical challenges and improve the lives of millions of users

  • Grow and scale a team hiring top talent focusing on DEI

  • Help to define our culture and processes, not only as a team but also as an organization

Your Role:

  • Build, lead and develop successfully a team of full-stack software engineers from all levels; defining their career development plans, setting specific goals, and motivating them to achieve results as part of their growth

  • Manage successfully performance; mentoring and coaching software engineers, supporting both high and underperforming individuals

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders across Handshake, including Design, Product Management, and Customer Support

  • Participate in technical decisions and provide technical coaching, helping tech leads to define and prioritize engineering roadmap

  • Lead with empathy as you help us nurture a culture of growth, inclusion, and belonging

Your Experience:

  • Proven track leading and managing teams of 4-6 high-output full-stack engineers

  • Background in software engineering and experience with web application platforms

  • The ability to understand the team’s technical challenges and architecture is the key to success

  • Working cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineering managers

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent people management skills, focusing on supporting empowerment

  • Understanding of agile methodologies

  • Product-focused mindset

  • Passion for helping teams and individuals grow, and for building an inclusive culture and diverse team.

Compensation Range:

$154660 - $167200
