About The Role
We are currently seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to assist the Controller in working on accounting projects including helping the company prepare for an IPO; shortening the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close cycles; preparing financial statements and audit schedules; structuring and accounting for complex transactions; researching accounting guidance and writing technical accounting memos; and documenting and implementing internal controls. The ideal candidate can see the big picture but isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty with the drive to get things done while looking for ways to improve the company’s current accounting practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform accounting research and prepare technical memorandums and analysis for new and complex transactions
- Analyze new accounting guidance from FASB and SEC including evaluating the impact of implementing new accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of GAAP financial statements and supporting schedules for the audit.
- Assist external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Assist in SEC reporting and filings.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of control policies and procedures.
- Practice continuous process improvement across all functions to increase efficiency, automation, and level of customer service.
- Work with internal groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions, including new products and business lines.
Qualifications
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required and CPA preferred
- Experience at a top-tier accounting firm
- 5+ years of experience in senior accounting roles which would include relevant technical accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, FASB codification and pronouncements and SEC reporting requirements, as well as ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity, and professionalism
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- A team player with superior writing and communication capabilities and people skills
- A self-starter who can work independently and knows when to seek guidance
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems and strong Excel skills
- Experience working in a technology company preferred
