The Mergers & Acquisitions Department (M&A) is responsible for structuring and executing a wide range of complex domestic and cross-border transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, spin-offs, joint-ventures, asset swaps and defenses against unsolicited takeover attempts. The group works in close partnership with the firm’s Industry coverage groups across sectors.

We are looking for an Associate to join our New York office. The successful candidate will work closely with professionals throughout the firm to deliver high quality advice to our clients. You will play an important role on a team that includes senior professionals who will encourage you to go beyond the numbers and think creatively.

Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of experience within the investment banking industry as an Analyst and Associate, or an MBA, with a proven track record working on executed deals across M&A and various industry sectors

- Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard

- Expertise in reading and interpreting financial statements

- Experience modeling related to all relevant transactions

- Strong written and verbal communication, client and interpersonal skills

- Commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines

- Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA and/or CFA designation would be an asset. Relevant degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or related field or foreign equivalent preferred

- Series licensing or must obtain

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
