Product Counsel

At Synapse, our mission is to accelerate the democratization of best in class financial products for everybody. Synapse is a banking platform that enables companies to provide financial products to their customers. As Synapse’s product counsel you will provide the insights needed for us to offer best in class financial services products across each of our platforms - Deposit, Credit, and Crypto.

In addition to working on legal agreements for our customers, regulators and bank partners, you will also be responsible for working cross-functionally to develop our products and ensure they are compliant with laws and regulation both at inception and on an on-going basis

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain ownership for the overall compliance for our Credit Platform
• Draft and implement user agreements for specific Credit products, disclosures, and disclaimers
• Research state, federal and certain international laws, rules, and regulations in connection with Credit product offerings
• Provide legal and compliance insight on new products and services and work with our Product/Engineering teams on the implementation of those products/services
• Review existing products/services for additional legal and compliance considerations
• Advise on a range of regulations and industry standards with a focus on consumer protection
• Remain current on laws, rulings, guidance, regulations and government programs affecting Synapse's operations
• Work with our customers, regulators and partners to develop best in class financial products

What You Will Bring

• Law degree and active membership in at least one U.S. State bar, preferably California
• 6 + years of legal experience in a combination of corporate legal, major law firm and/or FinTech
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage several simultaneous projects with deadlines
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment at a high-growth company
• Team player mindset, with a collaborative approach 
• Solution oriented, with strong business judgment
• The ability to take initiative and drive innovation
• An entrepreneurial spirit and unrelenting passion to deliver the best service possible
