Senior Director, Product Marketing

As Senior Director, Product Marketing, you will shape enterprise-level market-facing strategy for ZS’s platform and product portfolio, connecting customer needs, differentiated value and commercial priorities. You will work with firm leadership, product management, sales and other partners to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes across demand, conversion, adoption and expansion.

You will lead and develop product marketers, establish a scalable product marketing operating model and prioritize resources across complex initiatives. This is a leadership role that also calls for hands-on judgment: sharpening positioning, testing market assumptions, guiding critical launches and helping teams turn technical capabilities, including AI and agentic AI, into credible business value.

What You’ll Do:

  • Set a cohesive portfolio product marketing strategy that aligns with ZS’s enterprise goals, identifies priority markets, customer segments and growth opportunities, aligns platform and product narratives, and translates business priorities into focused go-to-market plans.
  • Build a disciplined market and customer insight agenda using customer satisfaction, buyer research, win/loss analysis, industry trends and competitive intelligence. Turn evidence into recommendations for portfolio investment, positioning and commercialization.
  • Partner with product management on strategic roadmap priorities, competitive need/gap analysis, pricing and packaging strategy. Bring market evidence and commercial judgment to shared decisions, aligning customer value, product direction and go-to-market readiness.
  • Develop differentiated positioning, messaging and value propositions for technical and non-technical audiences. Translate AI and agentic AI capabilities into clear, credible business value stories that explain relevant use cases, benefits and limitations without overstating capabilities.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional launches and commercialization initiatives, aligning launch priorities, audience strategy, readiness and success measures with product management, sales, demand generation, partners and customer success.
  • Extend go-to-market strategy across the product lifecycle, working with customer success, product and sales to support adoption, engagement, retention and expansion. Use customer feedback and performance data to improve the value customers realize over time.
  • Ensure scalable sales and partner enablement that helps direct and indirect sellers communicate differentiated value and compete effectively. Guide the creation of thought leadership, case studies, demos, video and other assets that support demand generation, lead nurturing and sales conversion.
  • Influence executive decisions with a clear, evidence-based point of view on market opportunities, competitive threats and strategic trade-offs. Align firm, business unit and industry leaders around shared priorities and resolve cross-functional tensions constructively.
  • Prioritize resources across the portfolio, balancing strategic opportunities, launch complexity and ongoing lifecycle needs. Establish repeatable planning, insight-sharing, launch and measurement practices that improve speed, quality and team effectiveness.
  • Hire, develop and retain product marketing talent, including senior product marketers. Set clear expectations, coach strategic and commercial judgment, and provide hands-on direction on high-stakes positioning, launch and enablement work while building team autonomy.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in B2B platform or SaaS product marketing, commercialization or strategic marketing, with substantial senior leadership experience and a demonstrated record of driving product awareness, demand, adoption and revenue growth.
  • Deep understanding of platform and SaaS business models, market dynamics and customer needs, with the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into differentiated value propositions and commercially effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Strong strategic and commercial judgment, including experience shaping portfolio priorities, informing roadmap and pricing decisions, and leading complex launches in competitive markets. You can turn competitive pressure into sharper positioning rather than reactive messaging.
  • A track record of building, leading and mentoring high-performing product marketing teams, including senior talent, and creating scalable processes that improve quality, resource prioritization and team effectiveness.
  • Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders around a shared market point of view and articulate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A data-driven approach to strategic problem-solving, using customer insight, win/loss evidence and performance measures to evaluate trade-offs, demonstrate business impact and improve execution.
  • Fluency in AI and agentic AI concepts, including predictive analytics and generative AI assistants, and the ability to translate them into credible business value, relevant customer use cases and compelling narratives.
  • Experience in personalization, customer engagement, content technology or medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review technology is preferred. Transferable experience and a demonstrated ability to become fluent quickly in a new competitive category are also valued.
  • A creative, collaborative mindset with a bias for action and curiosity. You bring ideas to life through content, video and storytelling, remain close to critical execution, and adapt effectively to changing priorities and market conditions.

How you’ll grow:

  • Cross-functional skills development & custom learning pathways
  • Milestone training programs aligned to career progression opportunities
  • Internal mobility paths that empower growth via s-curves, individual contribution and role expansions
