About the role
Chime is excited to hire a senior/lead data scientist to help improve our experimentation tooling and to guide experimentation methodologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in statistics and causal inference, experience in building scalable statistical solutions, the ability to work optimally with multiple partners, and an eagerness to improve our experimentation tooling and culture. You are customer focused, with a strong desire to understand tool users’ requirements and preferences and build tools to meet their needs. You will also act as an inspiring leader to provide mentorship and training to experimentation practitioners and help them use the right tools to drive fast and effective decision-making and strategy.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $167,200.00 and up to $267,100.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Design, build and maintain experimentation tooling (templated scripts, statistical modules) to scale experimentation methodologies.
- Find opportunities to evolve the current tooling and champion the initiatives.
- Improve our ability to conduct fast and accurate experiments through the introduction of new statistical methods.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in statistical solutions in experiment and causal inference, and continuously improve and iterate on performance optimization, scalability, and usability, to ensure it remains innovative and meets the needs of the organization.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver tooling and drive adoption.
- Leverage strong technical expertise in statistics, modeling, causal inference, etc and give mentorship to practitioners in experimentation and causal inference.
- Effectively communicate your work with team leads and cross-functional partners and be responsible for the experimentation cause more broadly across the organization.
To thrive in this role, you have
- A graduate degree in Statistics, Econometrics or a related field.
- 6+ years of industry experience (or PhD +4 years) in experimentation, and causal inference; experience in building scalable statistical solutions.
- Strong statistics knowledge, including experimentation statistics, causal inference techniques, variance reduction, Bayesian statistics, multi-armed bandit, etc; ML knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Skilled in statistical programming (Python) and big data manipulation in SQL.
- Ability to provide thought leadership in how to evolve experimentation tools and processes.
- A self-starter mentality who delights in applying and promoting advanced statistical techniques to help the organization benefit from such methodologies.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with a desire to work both independently and through others to achieve results.
