What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC is seeking a Vice President, Strats in New York, New York to build, deploy, and support trade software systems, analytical tools, and scalable trading engine infrastructure. Partner with trading, sales, operations, and senior management to understand key system issues in the trade lifecycle and propose technical solutions. Gather and analyze large sets of data through various systems and implement complex mathematical calculations. Utilize statistical and machine learning tools to analyze market data and identify trading and operational efficiency opportunities. Propose changes in trading systems based on data analysis and simulation results. Utilize quantitative skills, programming skills, and experience implementing mathematical models in KDB+, Java, Scala, and Python. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:

-Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study.

-Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Programmer, Associate, Vice President, or related occupation.

-Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills:

  • Working with Open-Source technology and performing full-stack development;
  • Working with fixed-income securities and reference data sets;
  • Developing multi-tier systems using Java or Scala;
  • Testing and mocking frameworks including JUnit and Mockito;
  • Scripting within a UNIX environment using Python 3, R 3.x, bash and utilities including: Awk, Sed, and jq;
  • Working on Typescript-based web application frameworks and libraries including Angular or React;
  • Source-control management using Git and Bitbucket;
  • Working within a UNIX-based, enterprise-level development environment;
  • Utilizing build tools including Gradle and Make;
  • Relational databases including DB2/PostgreSQL, NoSQL database MongoDB, and time-series database KDB+/q;
  • FIX protocol;
  • Data processing in XML and JSON over REST, SOAP, and MQ;
  • Distributed systems;
  • Apache Spark;
  • Apache Kafka;
  • Spring Boot based microservices; and
  • Working directly with project stakeholders.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $250,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
